Manitoba-based Southman Gleaners recently organized a pancake breakfast fundraiser to raise funds to feed people locally and internationally.
Southman Gleaners is a non-profit organization based in Southern Manitoba that provides dehydrated vegetables to feed hungry people, both locally and internationally. The Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast on April 26 offered community members a warm plate of fluffy pancakes and sizzling farmer sausage, with a chance to make a difference.
The by-donation event raised money to support the organization’s mission to provide food to hungry people in need worldwide. Southman Gleaners was recently founded by a group of local business-minded volunteers with an aim to take unmarketable vegetables, dice and dehydrate them, and package them for vegetable mixes. The organization has been able to dehydrate 14 different kinds of vegetables, such as carrots, onions, potatoes, squash, cabbage, etc. The vegetables blended into a dry soup mix help feed communities around the world.
