The Rotary Club of Whitehorse Rendezvous recently hosted a community fundraiser at Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre to raise funds for a new commercial kitchen at the Food Bank Society of Yukon.

After successfully raising $15,000 last year for the Food Bank Society of the Yukon, Yukon’s East Coast Kitchen Party 2.0 was aimed at raising funds for a new kitchen at the food bank.

The second fundraiser was organized by the Rotary Club of Whitehorse Rendezvous on May 3rd. The event featured food and entertainment inspired by Canada’s Maritime provinces as the crowd danced to the music by Leesiders, The Fiddleheads. Residents got together for a night of East Coast hospitality, toe-tapping tunes, and boatloads of fun while raising money for a good cause.

The new commercial kitchen is expected to be a game changer in the region as it will help improve the food bank’s ability to better serve the community. The commercial kitchen at the food bank will turn rescued food into ready-made meals, soup kits, baked goods, and more. The Food Bank Society of Yukon is partnering with local businesses to reduce food waste in Whitehorse and provide delicious, nutritious meals to the people who need them most.
