Ottawa’s business community once again got together for an evening of networking and music performances aimed at raising money for organizations that help the community. The event, called CAPO 5, encouraged attendees to enjoy the night of music while raising money for the Ottawa Food Bank.
Founded by tech and music industry veteran Ted Carty, The Capital Professionals Open Mic (CAPO) is a group of Ottawa business community professionals that combines music and charity for a great cause. CAPO members are professionals, administrators, consultants, executives, entrepreneurs and trade masters during the day, and by night they are lovers of music turned into singers, bands, musicians, and songwriters. CAPO brings together diverse talent and has turned out to be a life-changing experience for many.
CAPO organized its fifth event on May 2 at the Rainbow Bistro, raising funds for the Ottawa Food Bank. The event featured a prearranged open mic, live bands, and a headliner to entertain the attendees from 7 p.m. until close.
The CAPO event aims to support vital community organizations with CAPO 5 supporting the Ottawa Food Bank, which has seen a surge in demand this year, with over 556,000 visits recorded to the Ottawa Food Bank network. Tricia Johnson, director of communications and development at the Ottawa Food Bank, said, “People are just one paycheque away from needing a food bank.” She thanked CAPO5 for its support.
