Wawanesa Insurance Adds $500,000 Donation to Community Charities

Wawanesa Insurance is donating an additional $500,000 to 30 charities across Canada to help communities thrive in a changing world.

The company says the one-time $500,000 investment will support charities that help communities grow, prosper, and build resilience to future challenges. This one-time donation is in addition to the company’s regular community giving program, which provides more than $3.5 million each year to local and national groups. That includes over $2 million annually through its Climate Champions program, which supports projects dealing directly with climate change.

Of the $500,000 in funding, Wawanesa Insurance is providing $300,000 to six national charities that align with three main goals: safer, healthier, and more sustainable communities. The charities are BGC Canada, Women’s Shelters Canada, Indspire, the Canadian Mental Health Association, Green Communities Canada, and Team Rubicon Canada.

The remaining $200,000 will go to 24 charities chosen by Wawanesa employees from across the country, supporting causes such as health care, food security, youth programs, shelters, arts groups, seniors’ centres, humane societies, and community organizations. The company says its employees help guide where the money goes because they understand the needs of the communities where they live and work.
