Over 300 volunteers helped athletes shine at the Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games, making the provincial competition possible.

Hundreds of volunteers worked behind the scenes at the Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games, as the event celebrated its 50th anniversary edition in Corner Brook from August 8 to August 15, 2026.

The event kicked off in Corner Brook on Aug. 8, featuring between 1,500 and 1,600 athletes from 10 different regions across the province and St. Pierre-Miquelon, competing in 10 different sports. It was an important milestone, as Corner Brook hosted the first-ever provincial summer games in 1976.

The volunteers handled everything from organizing events, coordinating clothing for athletes, and helping at venues to preparing merchandise and coordinating with city leaders. The volunteer collaboration was key to the event’s success.
