A new community program in Orillia called “Connected Beginnings” is helping parents feel less alone as they go through pregnancy and the early months of raising a baby.
The program enables new parents to meet other parents and learn from trusted local professionals. It offers guidance, support, and connections to help new parents navigate the challenges of early parenthood. Connected Beginnings is a 12-week postpartum support program designed to provide practical guidance, emotional support, and trusted information for parents navigating pregnancy, newborn care, and early parenthood.
The Connected Beginnings program was created by a group of local maternal health professionals who saw a growing need for more support for parents after a baby is born in Orillia. The program brings together community partners who help families during pregnancy and the postpartum period. These include Orillia Perinatal Massage, which offers registered massage therapy and doula support; She’s Simply the Breast, which provides lactation services; and Kelly Armstrong. Together, they provide support and guidance on maternal mental health, infant feeding, postpartum recovery, and early parenting.
The Connected Beginnings program is supported by funding from the Orillia Area Community Development Corporation. You can reach out to hello@ambersperling.ca for registration and inquiries, or visit their website.
