One of the oldest curling clubs in Ontario, the Bobcaygeon Curling Club, recently raised $23,854 for the local food bank to help support families in need in the community.
Representatives from the Bobcaygeon Curling Club (BCC) proudly presented a cheque for $23,854.03 to the Bobcaygeon Helps Food Bank on March 6. The club raised the money during its 23rd annual Bobcaygeon Curling Club Cares Bonspiel, held in February. Ninety-six curlers participated in the event while also supporting a silent auction, raffle, and 50/50 draw. The strong participation and community spirit were key factors in the event’s success.
The Bobcaygeon Helps Food Bank is the only independent food bank in Ontario and is operated entirely by volunteers. The food bank regularly supports more than 225 local families, serving more than 465 individuals. Since the event’s inception in 2000, the Bobcaygeon Curling Club has donated about $189,000 to local charities to support the community.
The 2026 Bobcaygeon Curling Club Cares Bonspiel once again brought the community together to support important local causes in Bobcaygeon. Event organizer Murray Thompson thanked the curlers, sponsors, and local businesses for their generosity and shared that the recent bonspiel event was about more than curling; it was about neighbours helping neighbours.
