Jay and Barbara Hennick Donate $50M to Toronto Hospital

The Jay and Barbara Hennick Family Foundation has donated $50 million to Humber River Hospital in northwest Toronto. The donation will help the hospital grow further while focusing on better care, innovation, and impact.

The donation is being termed a “transformational gift,” as it is one of the largest donations ever given to a community hospital in Canada. Showing gratitude for the large donation, Humber River Hospital on Wilson Avenue near Keele Street has changed its name to Hennick Humber Hospital.

At a recent news conference attended by several officials, including Doug Ford, Jay and Barbara Hennick said they chose to support Humber River Health as they wanted their donation to make the biggest impact possible. Jay Hennick praised the hospital as a leader in digital health, patient care, and innovation, saying he was impressed by both its work and its vision.

The funding will further support new technologies, clinical programs, research, and education while also helping the hospital staff continue to provide high-quality care. Humber River Health, now called Hennick Humber Hospital, plans to use this investment to keep improving how it serves patients.

Established in 2008, the Jay and Barbara Hennick Family Foundation supports education, healthcare, and the arts in Canada.
