CIBC’s Run For The Cure Raises $18 Million for Cancer

The 35th annual Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure was held across 50 locations in Canada earlier this month, with more than 65,000 participants and volunteers taking part.

A record 14,837 CIBC team members joined the initiative and helped raise an impressive $2.81 million to support the Canadian Cancer Society and its work to help people affected by cancer. This year, over $18 million was raised, with Team CIBC contributing an impressive $2.81 million.

This year also marked Team CIBC’s 30th year as the title partner of the CIBC Run for the Cure. Over the years, Team CIBC has raised $70.4 million to support breast cancer research, treatment, education, and support programs across Canada.

CIBC thanked everyone who participated in the event by running, walking, or cheering for the cause. Thanks to greater awareness, ongoing research, and better treatments, the breast cancer death rate has fallen by nearly half since the mid-1980s. Canadians can show their support until Oct. 31 by sending a message of hope to someone special. For every message sent, the CIBC Foundation will donate $10 to the Canadian Cancer Society, up to a total of $100,000.

CIBC has supported the Canadian Cancer Society and Canadians for the past 30 years through the Run for the Cure. The money raised through the initiative over the years has helped fund breast cancer research, advocacy, and programs that support people and families affected by the disease.
