Urban Barn has launched its annual Blanket the Country charitable initiative throughout October, with all the funds raised being used to support people in need.
As part of the Blanket the Country campaign, Urban Barn customers can donate $5 in stores or online, and Urban Barn will match the donation, with 100% of the money going to a local charity in their community. The campaign supports people who may need a warm meal, a safe place to stay, or a helping hand. Urban Barn’s goal is to help neighbours across Canada feel safe, supported, and cared for.
Last year, the campaign raised $52,564, and since 2012, more than 70,000 blankets have been donated, with total support reaching $152,883.
This year, the campaign is supporting 33 local charities across Canada, with donations staying local. Until Oct. 31, all donations to Urban Barn’s Blanket the Country campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar. This means a $5 donation will become $10 for the local charities. The money will help provide programs and support for people living with life-threatening illnesses, their caregivers, and people dealing with grief and loss.
Urban Barn president Linda Letts said the campaign is about neighbours helping neighbours and making it easier for people to support important local causes. By matching customer donations, Urban Barn hopes to make every contribution go twice as far. You can make a donation to your local Urban Barn partner charity or make a donation online through the company’s Blanket the Country campaign.
