100 years of Gardening and Community Building

The East York Garden Club in Toronto, Ontario, is celebrating 100 years of gardening and community building. The friendly community group brings together people from all age groups with an interest in gardening.

The East York Garden Club hosts regular meetings, guest speakers, plant sales, and local projects throughout the year. Members share tips, seeds, and stories while helping make the East York neighbourhood more beautiful and the community more connected.

With over 100 years of history, the club has more than 185 active members and holds more than 20 events each year. Over the past century, the club has survived many unfortunate events while growing a strong sense of community. In 2025, the East York Garden Club accounted for over 2,000 volunteer hours.

Founded in 1926, the club has continued to grow and thrive through many challenges over the years and continues to bring people together through a common passion for gardening in East York.
