To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope, Terry’s brother, Darell Fox, has announced the National Ride of Hope to raise $1 million for innovative cancer research.
Carrying forward his brother’s legacy, Darrell Fox and other riders will cycle 7,000 km across Canada this June. The initiative aims to raise $1M to support life-changing cancer research. To mark the 143 days Terry ran, all donations and fundraising efforts for the Terry Fox National Ride of Hope will be generously matched by the Saunders Family and the John Deere Foundation of Canada, up to $143,000.
The National Ride of Hope will embark on a 7000km journey from Vancouver to St. John’s. The ride will start at the Terry Fox statues in Vancouver on June 9 and will cross the country in 32 days, ending on July 10, in St. John’s, where Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope. Local cyclists are invited to join and support the cause along the way.
Adidas has also joined the 45th anniversary celebration by launching a first-of-its-kind collection for the Terry Fox Foundation featuring 10 unique pieces, including T-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, ball caps, toques, and more, with the words “Finish It”. The back of the shirt features an image of Terry as seen from behind while he runs forward. The brand hopes the new merchandise will represent millions across Canada and around the world who continue to follow Terry’s lead in the fight against cancer.
