Ophthalmo Décarie in Montreal has served over 5,000 underserved patients on waitlists and is now ready to support the patients on waitlists in the Montérégie and Laurentides regions around Montreal.
The clinic has dedicated part of its practice to treating the underserved, communities who have difficulty accessing healthcare. The clinic is located at 6900 Décarie Blvd, suite 3125, Côte Saint-Luc, Quebec, and holds special days dedicated to the underserved patients.
Dr. Alla Muladzanov, ophthalmologist & co-founder of Ophthalmology Décarie, wanted to find a middle ground for underprivileged patients so that they did not have to wait too long for important and urgent care. Dr. Muladzanov is working towards giving back to improve the visual health of those who need it the most and has been recognized for her dedication to helping the most vulnerable communities.
At present, the clinic has three to four eye doctors on staff, allowing them to see about 25 to 30 patients each day. The multicultural staff at the clinic are often new arrivals themselves and are keen to provide specialized care to those in need. Right now, patients with a referral can get an appointment within a week. Among the people served by the clinic, some patients had been waiting for care since 2018.
