McHappy Day Supports Canadian Families with Sick and Injured Children

McDonald’s locations across Canada celebrated McHappy Day on May 8, donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of every menu item to help Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) support families with sick and injured children. RMHC program locations offer families a place to stay together while the children receive the necessary treatment.

McDonald’s Canada observed its first McHappy Day in 1977 and has so far raised over $100 million in critical funding for RMHC across Canada and other local children’s charities. This is the 31st edition of McHappy Day, aimed at providing a simple and delicious way to support families in Canadian communities. McHappy Day helps Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) keep families close to their sick or injured children while they get medical care. 1 in 4 Canadians has either received help from RMHC or knows someone who has.

The event is run by McDonald’s Canada and its local restaurant owners, who care about giving back to their communities. More than 90% of McDonald’s locations in Canada are locally owned. One local owner, Brandy Gozda Sekhon, shared how much McHappy Day means to families in her area and encouraged everyone to take part by simply ordering a meal on May 8 to help families in need.

On May 8, a portion of every purchase at any McDonald’s location ordered in the restaurant, at the drive-thru, through the McDonald’s app, or with delivery was donated to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and other local children’s charities in Canada. McHappy Day offered a $0 delivery fee on all McDelivery orders and asked guests if they chose to round up their order total and donate the extra change to RMHC.
