A free hands-on teaching program called Lemonade Day will be held in Kamloops this August. The program teaches kids how to start, own, and run their own lemonade stand business.
Lemonade Day aims to teach critical entrepreneurial skills to the young participants and guide them towards becoming business leaders, social advocates, volunteers, and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow.
The Lemonade Day curriculum teaches important lessons to enrolled kids, such as creating budgets, setting profit-making goals, serving customers, repaying investors, and giving back to the community. The program provides hands-on training and skills in problem solving. Lemonade Day has helped its young participants improve self-esteem and responsibility, enhance their communication abilities, and demonstrate better real-world math application.
Community Futures is sponsoring the Kamloops initiative. Each child who joins the program gets to keep all the money they earn from the stand. They are encouraged to spend some, save some, and share some of their earnings.
Kids in Kamloops can sign up for Lemonade Day this summer and quench their entrepreneurial thirst on Friday, August 22. Registration for the event, along with opportunities for adults to volunteer or mentor, can be found on the program’s website.
