The Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program (VARAK), along with Quinte Mall and Charm Diamond Centres, has announced Naomi Saunders of Frankford as the 2025 Quinte’s Kindness Citizen of the Year.

Naomi is known among the Belleville and Frankford area communities as the most kind, considerate, and thoughtful person, constantly working towards making this world a better place. She is a long-time volunteer of the Canadian Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes, the Canada Post Community Foundation, and the VARAK Program.

At a very young age, Naomi started assisting her mother by canvassing door to door for the Cancer Society. As an adult, Naomi went on to help with the Daffodil Campaign by delivering flowers to local businesses as a fundraiser for cancer. Working as a team member in Relays for Life events, Naomi helped raise $20,000 over a five-year period. Naomi has also volunteered and raised funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation through sneaker sales and the Diabetes Walk for a Cure. Additionally, Naomi has helped raise thousands of dollars for the Canada Post Community Foundation.

Naomi started helping with the VARAK Program in 1998 and has decorated the downtown area of Frankford with blue ribbons and signs for VARAK Week every March. Naomi led the Kindness Crew in Frankford and Stirling, playing a key role in getting products for giveaways for the Kindness Crews.

Naomi’s kindness and generosity have been instrumental in her being recognized. Whenever a neighbour or friend needs help, Naomi is the first to respond. Her thoughtfulness and caring attitude are outstanding.
