Hope Air Day Promotes Equitable Access to Healthcare

On June 6th, National Hope Air Day raised awareness and celebrated the communities across Canada working together to ensure that all Canadians can get the healthcare they need.

Since 1986, Hope Air has helped Canadians in financial need by providing free flights, accommodation, and other support to Canadians who need to travel for medical care. Since its inception in 1986 as Mission Air Transportation Network, Hope Air has arranged over 235,000 trips for patients from more than 640 communities across the country. In 2024 alone, the social services organization arranged 45,943 trips for people in 642 communities across Canada.

Hope Air Day was celebrated across Canada with multiple events and community fundraisers across the country. The flag-raising ceremony at City Hall was attended by Hope Air’s Chief Hope Officer and other special guests, followed by a community event at the Sault Ste. Marie Airport, where pilots, patients, and supporters gathered to raise awareness. The day ended with a concert at the Bushplane Museum, featuring musician Cory Marks.

Hope Air Day celebrates how people and communities have been working together to make sure all Canadians can get the healthcare they need, no matter where they live. Hope Air thanked its partners, donors, volunteers, and governments for their support and reminded others of the importance of this service.
