22-year-old Simeon King from Alberta is cycling over 7,500 kilometres from Victoria, BC, to Saint John’s, Newfoundland, to raise awareness and money for those living with Type 1 diabetes.
Through his 81-day journey, Simeon aims to raise $100,000 for I Challenge Diabetes, a charity that supports people living with the disease and helps them face their health challenges. You can cheer for Simeon on his journey and also donate to his cause at CycleForType1.
Simeon’s ride is about making a difference as he is connecting with people across Canada and raising awareness and money for those living with the daily challenges of type 1 diabetes. Throughout the ride, Simeon is stopping at 14 different cities, including Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Markham, Kingston, Montreal, Quebec City, Fredericton, Moncton, Charlottetown, and St. John’s and meeting people from the communities.
Simeon, now 22, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 11. He’s currently training to become a commercial pilot, even though people once told him it wasn’t possible because of his condition. That pushed him to prove them wrong and inspire others. Simeon’s 7,500-kilometre cycle ride across Canada intends to showcase that with courage, passion, and the support of others, we can overcome challenges and achieve amazing things.
