The recent findings of the ADP Canada Happiness@Work Index reveal that workers in the Atlantic Canada region are the happiest, followed by workers in Quebec and British Columbia.
According to the May 2025 ADP Canada Happiness@Work Index, 70% of workers value a respectful workplace the most, followed by honesty, flexibility, and good health benefits. Many also appreciate extra health coverage like dental and vision (56%) and flexible work options (42%).
The country’s overall work happiness score for May 2025 is 6.8 out of 10, which is slightly higher than last month and the same time last year. Nearly half (47%) of workers say they’re happy with their current jobs, with work-life balance and flexibility playing a big part in that satisfaction.
The survey placed Baby Boomers (61+) as the happiest workers in Canada with a score of 7.5 out of 10. Gen-X (45-60) and Millennials (29-44) followed at 6.8, while Gen-Z (18-28) saw a slight improvement to 6.7 but still ranked lowest. Regionally, Atlantic Canada had the biggest jump in happiness, rising to 7.0, followed by Quebec, British Columbia, and Ontario, tied at 6.8/10, while Alberta and Saskatchewan/Manitoba tied as the least happy areas at 6.7.
The Happiness@Work Index factored in responses from over 1,200 working Canadians, including employees and self-employed people, to rate their workplace experiences on a scale of 1 to 10. You can see more at ADP Media Center.
