From July 3 to July 31, 2025, communities across British Columbia are invited to share their views to help create a new future plan for WorkBC employment services that will help improve job services in the province.
The plan is to improve the WorkBC employment program by offering people more choices and personalized support based on their individual needs. In the future, WorkBC will have three different service options that are all connected, so people can start anywhere and move between services as their situation changes.
- Online Services: Anyone in B.C. can use mobile-friendly online tools to search for jobs, improve their resume, take training, and get job matches. People can also apply for extra support, like help with childcare, transportation, or work supplies, through their online account.
- WorkBC Centre Services: People can visit a WorkBC centre in person or online to get one-on-one help with career planning, training, job searches, and overcoming personal challenges. Centres also offer quick referrals to community services like mental health or newcomer supports.
- Employment Readiness Outreach Services: For people facing tough situations like mental health struggles, homelessness, or other barriers, WorkBC offers outreach counselors and peer mentors who meet people where they feel safe. These services focus on building skills, confidence, and connections to help people move towards jobs at their own pace.
Everyone using WorkBC services can mix and match these options based on what works best for them and continue to access tools and support as they build their careers. You can learn more by visiting the Government of British Columbia website or participate by taking the survey until July 31st.
WorkBC helps more than 100,000 people each year through 102 centres, offering career planning, skills training, job-search support, and financial assistance. As the labour market changes, people’s needs and expectations for how they access provincial employment services are evolving.
