Rural Municipalities of Alberta insurance company Genesis recently donated $5,000 to the Barrhead food bank. Genesis is helping the communities it serves by donating money to nonprofits that support those who need help.
On June 18, Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) Zone 3 director Josh Bishop and County of Barrhead Reeve Doug Drozd visited the Barrhead and District Family Community Support Services (FCSS) office to present a $5,000 cheque for the local food bank. The donation was made by Genesis, RMA’s insurance company, as part of its effort to support community organizations that help residents in need.
The Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) is a group of 69 counties and municipal districts that speaks for rural communities at the provincial and national levels. Josh Bishop, who is also the Reeve of the County of Wetaskiwin, is the RMA Zone 3 director and manages their insurance company, Genesis. Genesis has a special fund set aside to support rural charities that make a difference.
County of Barrhead Reeve Doug Drozd nominated the Barrhead FCSS and food bank for a donation, and Bishop said they were happy to help. Savannah Belyk from FCSS shared that the money will be used to buy important items like toilet paper, soap, and shampoo, things many people forget to donate but are always needed. Some of the money will also help pay for programs to support people going through tough times.
