Two moms, Julia Miller Black and Tanya Taylor, from the Greater Toronto Area, are helping reduce financial stress for parents by providing them with free diapers and baby wipes.
Julia and Tanya have been friends for decades, and their work in philanthropy has helped them understand the challenges faced by many young families. Their desire to help others took shape when each had a baby during the pandemic and realized the challenges faced by local mothers in accessing the basics. Together, they founded Baby Love Beginnings, a charity that partners with community organizations to distribute diapers and other baby products to low-income families in the GTA.
What started in their basement in 2022 has grown to become Canada’s largest diaper donation program. Baby Love is a registered nonprofit that uses financial donations to manufacture diapers and baby wipes at less than the retail price for bulk donations. A monthly $25 donation funds a month’s supply of diapers for one family.
The charity distributes about 150,000 diapers to 14 community organizations every month, helping parents redirect their limited budgets toward other essentials like food and housing. Since 2022, Baby Love has delivered more than three million diapers and 1.3 million baby wipes. In addition to financial donations, the charity accepts donations of baby items such as books, clothing, pacifiers, and thermometers to create care packages for families.
The charity is supported by 400 volunteers who help package and prepare deliveries every month. In 2026, the charity hopes to deliver 1.7 million diapers to families in need.
