A group of volunteers in Toronto is spreading joy by participating in events and giving back to the community.
Toronto Joy was established by author and community organizer Amar Khanderia to bring people together and encourage them to participate in acts of kindness. The group creates opportunities for volunteers to give back to their communities while building friendships and supporting one another.
Toronto Joy volunteers help make a positive difference by participating in activities that promote kindness, friendship, and inclusion, such as serving meals and supporting initiatives that help those in need. The group believes that small acts of kindness and strong community relationships can create lasting positive change for both individuals and the wider community.
Khanderia developed his passion for community service during his 17 years in Madurai, India, where he volunteered on projects to help improve the lives of people in rural communities. Those experiences taught him that helping others brings purpose, joy, and a greater sense of well-being. After returning to Canada in 2020, he shared these values by creating a personal growth group called Journey Home and founding Toronto Joy in 2025.
Toronto Joy encourages people to connect, support one another, and experience the positive impact that kindness can have on both individuals and the wider community. If you are looking to volunteer with Toronto Joy, please visit the group’s website and join the Meetup group to sign up for upcoming events.
