Thousands of Canadians participated in the annual mental health walk across Canada to raise money for Kids Help Phone. The event aims to raise $4 million nationwide.
The 13th annual BMO Walk So Kids Can Talk fundraiser took place in 15 communities across Canada to support youth struggling with mental health. The funds raised will support mental health services online and in classrooms.
People across Canada participated in the event in cities including Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg, along with several other communities across the country. Virtual walk options were also available in every province and territory, allowing people even in the United States to join and support the cause from wherever they are.
Since January 2020, KHP has supported young people across Canada more than 22 million times. This year, the organization’s 5-km fundraising walk, supported by BMO Financial Group, included a kids’ play area, music from a DJ, and free food.
The annual event helps raise money for Kids Help Phone’s free, 24/7 counselling service for people aged 5 to 29. Last year, the organization facilitated more than 3.7 million interactions with youth.
