Surrey Firefighters CS Donates $15,000 to help 3-Year-Old

The Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society recently donated $15,000 to help Gurmoh, a 3-year-old from Surrey, B.C., suffering from a progressive neurodegenerative disease.

Gurmoh loves music and dancing and dreams of becoming a firefighter one day. Unfortunately, the three-year-old has been diagnosed with a rare, progressive neurodegenerative disease that could take away his ability to walk, speak, and live independently without proper medical attention.

The SFFCS Board approved a $15,000 donation to support Gurmoh and his family in pursuing life-changing gene therapy at McGill University. While the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society typically supports broader community programs, the urgency of this matter called for action. The funds were made available through the Mayor’s Evening of Joy, which raises money for the SFFCS to support critical community needs.

Brenda Locke joined the cheque presentation ceremony and recognized the generosity and compassion shown by the community, highlighting the importance of coming together to support those in need.
