Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health has launched a national Giving Shelter campaign to help women rebuild their lives free from abuse.
The campaign, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 9, aims to support more than 300 women’s shelters and programs across Canada. Through the campaign, customers can donate by rounding up their purchase at checkout at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores across Canada until Oct. 9. All donations will stay in the communities where they are raised and help local organizations provide women and children with safety, support, and resources as they work toward lives free from violence.
According to statistics, a woman experiences intimate partner violence every five minutes in Canada, while about 700 women and children are turned away from shelters each day. These numbers show the urgent need for safe spaces and support for people experiencing abuse. Through the Giving Shelter campaign, Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health is encouraging Canadians to support more than 300 women’s shelters and community programs.
The campaign also offers Canadians a special opportunity to make their support go even further this year, as Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health will match funds raised through in-store round-ups and online donations, up to a total of $150,000.
