Santa’s Angels, a volunteer-run charity in P.E.I., wants to create a hub for at-risk P.E.I. youth aging out of care.
Santa’s Angels is a 100% volunteer-run charity founded by Kenny Zakem in 2004 that has spent more than 20 years delivering Christmas food boxes and gifts to families across Prince Edward Island. The program**, called Angels Crossing,** is an expansion of the organization’s support for youth aged 16 to 24 who are at risk of homelessness, addiction, or aging out of foster care.
The program, called Angels Crossing, will help at-risk youth in P.E.I. with housing, mental health, and job support. It will focus on young people aged 16 to 30 who are at risk of homelessness, substance use, and involvement in the justice system. The program will help young people build life skills, improve their mental health, and avoid ending up on the streets.
The group has found a property in Alexandra that would become both Santa’s Angels’ permanent home and a community hub for youth programs. They are now working to raise enough money over the next month to purchase the property and make the vision a reality. Their goal is to establish a permanent home for Santa’s Angels this year, with youth programming expected to ramp up in 2027.
