Yarmouth, N.S., local entrepreneur and Canadian TV personality Mandy Rennehan is making a big donation to help tackle homelessness.

Yarmouth native Mandy Rennehan is known as Canada’s “Blue Collar CEO” and has spent her career renovating and restoring older buildings. She recently donated a six-unit rental property she restored to a local non-profit organization called Souls Harbour Rescue Mission. The building had been successfully operated as a luxury Airbnb for three years and will now help raise money to support people struggling with addiction, hunger, and homelessness in the community.

Rennehan’s property will help people facing addiction, hunger, and homelessness. The building will continue operating as a short-term rental, with the income helping hundreds of people in the Yarmouth area who need support. The donation will also provide opportunities for local people to gain work experience and hospitality skills as they rebuild their lives. Souls Harbour CEO Michelle Porter said the gift will have a lasting impact on the community and help the organization reach more people in need.

Mandy Rennehan’s own family experience with addiction inspired her to help others in her hometown. Seeing her brother’s journey made Rennehan realize that Yarmouth needed more support for people dealing with addiction and other challenges. She wanted to use her skills in renovating buildings to create something positive for the community and believes there is a need for more safe and supportive places for people to turn to.
