Communities across British Columbia are coming together and raising funds to provide relief to those suffering from the devastation caused by wildfires.

The community fundraisers have raised millions of dollars for emergency support. Everyone is participating, from seniors’ groups and local foundations to businesses and community organizations, to help those in need. The funds will help evacuees meet immediate needs and begin the process of rebuilding.

The scale of devastation caused by the wildfires has been significant, forcing an estimated 20,000 people out of their homes. The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen raised over $240,000 through more than 600 donations from individuals, families, businesses, and organizations.

The Okanagan Indo Canadian Seniors Society raised $19,184.43 in just 30 minutes for the wildfire response fund. $10,000 was contributed by the Summerland branch of Cascadia Credit Union to the relief effort. Local businesses and community members in Kelowna stepped up through a special fundraiser at Derrick’s Steakhouse serving about 850 burgers and raising money to support wildfire evacuees through Mamas for Mamas. The Kelowna Professional Firefighters Charitable Society raised $84,850 in 2026 through its wildfire-related T-shirt fundraising campaign.

A community fundraising effort in Kamloops through a lemonade stand raised $1,200 for the Canadian Red Cross B.C. Wildfire Relief Fund. The Community Foundation North Okanagan established its Wildfire Response 2026 Fund to collect donations for people affected by evacuations, home losses, and long-term recovery.
