Community groups in Lac La Biche received nearly $89,000 for their help with the 2025 Lac La Biche Festival of Trees.
During a recent cheque presentation ceremony, the chief organizer of the Festival of Trees, Pat Boon Anderson, presented cheques to 53 local service organizations, thanking them for their efforts and contributions to the 2025 event. Most nonprofits helping with the Lac La Biche Festival of Trees receive a standard $500 payment, while some may get more depending on their contributions. Volunteer groups support the Lac La Biche Festival of Trees by taking on responsibilities like hosting breakfasts, selling tickets, helping set up and take down the event, and supervising other volunteers.
The most recent event, held in November, raised about $100,000 from ticket sales. Of that, $10,000 was donated to the Kids Are Worth It program, and the remaining funds, after expenses, were shared among the participating groups. Organizers kept $13,000 aside to help cover start-up costs for next year’s festival.
Anderson shared that Lac La Biche is a special community where people come together to create events and activities that make the area a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Plans for the 2026 Lac La Biche Festival of Trees are already in motion. The event is scheduled from November 19 to 22, and the first tree has already been registered. The festival keeps growing stronger as the community works and plays together, making life better for everyone.
