Founded in 1986, Hope Air has completed 40 years of helping Canadians overcome the barriers of distance and cost while travelling long distances to access medical care.
Over the last four decades, Hope Air has transformed itself from an airline into a lifeline for many Canadians by providing non-emergency medical travel support to people in financial need. Last year alone, Hope Air supported 1,780 trips and nearly 6,000 travel arrangements for patients across Canada.
The national charity supports Canadians in need with the cost of flights, hotel stays, bridge tolls, ferry passes, and more to enable people to access health services that are not available to them closer to home.
Hope Air provides support such as transportation, hotel stays, meal vouchers, and gas cards, helping patients focus on their health instead of worrying about travel expenses. In 2025, the demand for the charity’s services increased due to rising living costs, making medical travel more difficult for many families. Hope Air helps many Canadians with modest incomes access the medical treatment they need, no matter where they live.
