Residents of High River, Alberta, had a fun way to get rid of their old electronics by smashing them while raising $1,600 for local charities.

This was the third annual Smash-IT fundraiser held by JEI Tech. During the two-day event, people brought in old electronic devices and took part in smashing them as part of the fundraiser. The event raised a total of $1,600 for two local organizations. A total of $1,000 was donated to Foothills Advocacy in Motion Society (FAIM), and Wildrose Community Connections received $600. After receiving the funds, FAIM thanked JEI Tech, all the event participants, and everyone who contributed.

JEI Tech president Lee-Anne Coleman said the fundraiser is a fun way for people in the community to come together and blow off some steam by smashing old electronics and getting rid of them while supporting community organizations in the process. The two charities were selected because their work supports individuals and families and builds a stronger community.

The fundraiser was supported by local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners such as MR MIKES, Canadian Tire High River, Rendezvous Ranch Airbnb Cottage Rental in Nanton, Wilco Disposal Inc., Sherweb, and WatchGuard Technologies. This event is a great example of how the community benefits when local businesses, residents, and organizations work together. JEI Tech is working toward growing the fundraiser in the coming years and raising more money for local charities.
