A Toronto musician/busker by the name of J. Soul was robbed while busking at Finch Subway Station earlier this month. Ever since he shared the incident on his social media, the community has been reaching out to him with apologies and support to help lift him.
The street musician known as J. Soul was playing his acoustic guitar and livestreaming at the TTC subway station in Toronto when, around 11 pm, three people approached him. At first, he thought they were going to donate money, but instead, the trio grabbed the cash and coins from his guitar case. When he tried to confront them, two walked away while one stayed behind and told him to back up before pulling out a firearm. J. Soul stayed calm and decided to step back to avoid the situation getting worse, as the whole incident was captured on his phone.
With the help of the video, Toronto Police have arrested two suspects, while a third suspect is still being sought. Since he shared the incident online, the street musician has received a lot of support from people online. Many people reached out to him through social media and email to apologize for what happened, send encouragement, and praise his music. Some even donated money and told him to stay positive.
Feeling overwhelmed with the community support, the musician has tried to respond to as many messages as he can to thank people for their kindness. Despite the frightening experience, J.Soul plans to continue busking at TTC stations but will take extra steps to stay safe.
