The community in Quesnel came together to help the Lloyd family search for their missing border collies, Tag and Tucker.
The family reached out for help through social media and local community pages and was amazed by the response. Neighbours and strangers offered support, showing kindness and care that deeply touched the Lloyds and even helped them connect with people in their community for the first time.
People stepped in to help the Lloyd family search for their missing dogs as volunteers drove around, hiked through the backcountry, and even offered to use drones, all on their own time. Neighbours shared sightings and tried to help by leaving food and blankets, as the dogs were even spotted on trail cameras.
After days of heavy snow, the Lloyd family made a skidoo trail from Garner Road to their driveway and placed blankets along the path for the dogs to smell their way home. Tag and Tucker followed that trail and quietly walked up the driveway after nine days, hungry but safe. After nine long days of searching and close calls, the family was feeling discouraged, but the last-minute trail plan and the support of their community helped bring the dogs home safely.
