The Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon and District is helping people deal with the stress of the current uncertain times.
With the new war heating up in the Middle East, CMHA Vernon and District is inviting community members to connect with them through a call and share their feelings of dread and anxiety. Executive Director of CMHA Vernon and District, Julia Payson, says that it is natural for people to experience anxiety or worry in times of crisis, and they are welcome to reach out to CMHA to access mental health-related services like BounceBack or the 988 Suicide Crisis Helpline, or participate in community-building activities that encourage people to create positive change in their lives.
The support of community members and talking to others has been shown to improve mental health in times of uncertainty. Founded in 1959, the Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon & District Branch is a leading community-based organization dedicated to promoting mental wellness and supporting mental health in the North Okanagan. CMHA Vernon provides a wide range of programs and services that foster mental wellness, recovery, social inclusion, and resilience.
The organization works with youth, individuals, families, and community partners to ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive in a mentally healthy community. For more information, visit the CMHA Vernon and District website.
