Burlington’s Food For Life Continues Feeding People in Need

Food for Life in Burlington will be able to continue feeding people in need in the region with a fresh $200,000 grant.

The volunteer-run charity has been feeding hundreds of people each week with the help of the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s $197,600 Resilient Communities Fund grant, which was received in 2024 and expired in March 2026. A fresh provincial grant of $200,000 will help expand existing food programs and reach more people experiencing food insecurity.

Since 1995, Food for Life has rescued over 35 million pounds of food to support nearly 4,500 households through nearly 100 programs in the Halton Region and Hamilton regions. The organization runs various programs like market-style food pickups, fresh food fridges, lockers, and pop-ups for seniors, all designed to be welcoming, easy to access, and respectful.

The charity works with local farms, grocery stores, and businesses to rescue about 5 million pounds of surplus food each year, reducing waste while helping those in need. Learn more about the organization and its programs at www.foodforlife.ca.
