The town of Battleford will soon have a new Blessing Box, providing easy access to food and essentials for people in need. The second Blessing Box will be placed in front of the North Battleford Fire Department fire hall, located at 902-104 Street in North Battleford.

The first “come and go” donation box was set up in September 2024 in front of the Alex Dillabough Centre in the Town of Battleford. The Blessing Box allows residents to leave items such as food, clothing, and hygiene products for anyone in the community to take what they need.

This project was restarted by community member Paige Hundt after the original box created by Natalya Shevchuk was removed. Witnessing the community response and the success of the first Blessing Box, North Battleford City Council recently approved a second Blessing Box to be placed outside the city’s fire hall to help even more people in the community.

While the community will help with donations, local sponsors such as Twin River Concrete, SK Arts, beePLUS, the North Battleford Lions Club, and BATC Community Development Corporation are helping Hundt cover the costs of the Blessing Box’s installation. The landscaping and supervision of the Blessing Box will be managed by the staff at the fire hall.
