Aviva Canada has pledged $250,000 in funding towards Team Rubicon Canada to help support disaster response, mitigation, and preparedness efforts across the country.
The funding announcement came during the 10th anniversary of Team Rubicon in Canada, a period defined by increasingly frequent and severe climate-driven events. Team Rubicon Canada will use the funds to strengthen operational readiness, including training and deploying the organization’s volunteer workforce, known as Greyshirts, and expanding programs focused on disaster mitigation and long-term community resilience.
Aviva mentioned that the financial commitment reflects its frontline view of how extreme weather is affecting households and businesses nationwide. By supporting Team Rubicon Canada, Aviva hopes to help communities recover more quickly and be better prepared for future disasters.
The partnership between Aviva and Team Rubicon goes beyond funding and includes Aviva employees volunteering on missions and working together to improve disaster response and preparedness systems. Team Rubicon Canada works closely with governments as part of Canada’s Humanitarian Workforce and has grown to more than 4,300 volunteers, completing over 150 disaster response missions in Canada and around the world.
