Winnipeg’s Martial Arts Instructor Gives Back to the Community

Keith Saunders, master instructor at Saunders Taekwondo Academy in Winnipeg, has spent decades feeding the homeless in the city. With the help of his family and friends, Saunders has been known to help the community with food donations time and again.

Saunders and his team were recently seen outside Siloam Mission serving food to those in need. With some help from students and a few additional volunteers, Saunders was able to feed around 200 people. The menu featured a hearty beef stew, scrambled eggs, pulled pork, hamburgers, hotdogs, and water, along with a few extra tasty treats. According to Saunders, this was the 125th time they’ve done this, and it’s his way of offering kindness and support to those in need.

Saunders said people in the community need help, and he understands what it feels like to be hungry. He believes that if you can help someone, you should. His team usually has about 12 people, but sometimes it’s just him and a couple of others. Even then, he keeps going because it gives him a chance to connect with people. His message is simple: we should care for each other. Saunders reminds everyone not to be afraid to give, because the people in need are human beings and are part of our community and our country, and we should support one another.
