As students return to school this fall, the Victorian Order of Nurses’ (VON) Ontario Student Nutrition Program (OSNP) is playing an important role in helping students succeed.
The Ontario Student Nutrition Program, Southwest Region (OSNP-SW), provides healthy food to students in more than 480 schools across Southwestern Ontario, helping them eat well and learn better. The program is managed by VON Windsor-Essex, one of 14 lead agencies under Student Nutrition Ontario.
Every day, thousands of students in Southwestern Ontario have access to healthy meals and snacks through OSNP, ensuring that all children, no matter their circumstances, can learn and thrive. Beyond providing food, these programs create welcoming spaces where students feel included, supported, and valued, helping their overall well-being and sense of belonging. Each year, volunteers help prepare and serve food, while donations allow the program to reach more children despite limited budgets.
These programs rely on the generosity of the community to succeed. VON is currently asking residents to get involved by donating, volunteering, or helping spread the word. Together, the community can ensure that every child is well-fed and ready to learn.
