The Steelworkers Charity Golf Tournament recently brought the community together at the Crimson Ridge golf course in Sault Ste. Marie and raised an impressive $27,603 to support local initiatives.

Golfers, volunteers, and local businesses took part in the sixth annual Steelworkers Charity Golf Tournament. Players of all skill levels joined in a fun four-person scramble, with extra challenges such as Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. What started as a simple golf day turned into a lively celebration of community, teamwork, and giving back.

The crowd erupted with laughter during the “Shaving Never Felt So Good” contest, which ended in a tie between Marc Ayotte and Bill Slater, who both bravely got a fresh shave. Catherine O’Donnell from Catherine’s Hairstyling & Barbershop made it all possible with her skilled touch, helping raise $7,616.35 and plenty of smiles. In total, the tournament raised $27,603.13.

Local sponsors such as Gateway Casino Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma Steel, Tenaris, Boniferro Mill Works, and Your Neighbourhood Credit Union, along with many others, gave back to their community. Now in its sixth year, the Steelworkers Charity Golf Tournament has become a much-loved tradition that highlights the power of generosity, teamwork, and community spirit.
