Sitansisk Couple on a Mission to Help Fredericton’s Homeless Community

Frank and Connie Paul from Sitansisk (St. Mary’s) First Nation are dedicating their time and efforts to help and support the homeless community in Fredericton. From their front porch in Sitansisk, the couple collects donations of food, clothing, blankets, and other essentials, which they personally distribute to those in need during late-night rounds across the city.

Their rounds keep them out till late, reaching out to the less fortunate in the area, and they often don’t return home until after midnight. The Pauls have been helping the homeless community for years, making their rounds through the woods, shelters, and even along the highway.

The couple has spent years building trust with the homeless community, where they know many by name and check in on them regularly. When the Pauls arrive at shelters in the woods, Frank honks the horn, and a security guard announces their arrival to the people struggling with homelessness. People come out to grab food, water, and essentials, including Frank’s homemade peanut butter and molasses sandwiches or Connie’s egg salad sandwiches.

Frank Paul is a retired police officer who took an oath to serve and protect, and he continues to follow that oath even after his retirement. The Pauls take donations from the community and bring much needed supplies directly to those who need them most in the Fredericton area.
