Saskatchewan Wildfires Appeal Raises $2.2 Million

A province-wide radio campaign called the Saskatchewan Day of Caring raised $680,000 to help people, families, and communities affected by the wildfires in Saskatchewan. So far, a total of $2.2 million has been raised for the Canadian Red Cross to support those in need.

The Canadian Red Cross marked June 12 as the Saskatchewan Day of Caring, inviting residents across the province to donate and help those affected by the wildfires. This is a part of the 2025 Saskatchewan Wildfires Appeal started by the non-profit organization that has raised $2.2 million as of June 16. As per the appeal, the Government of Canada will match every donation made to the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Saskatchewan Wildfires Appeal between May 30 and June 29, 2025.

This means every $1 donated by the people will become $2 to help people affected by the wildfires. Donations will provide emergency help, financial support, aid for evacuees and host communities, and recovery programs. It will also help prepare communities in Saskatchewan for future disasters.

Luc Mullinder, Canadian Red Cross vice-president for Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nunavut, thanked the radio stations for their support and the people who donated to the cause. The radio campaign was inspiring and commended the work of Red Cross teams and volunteers, tirelessly working on the ground in Saskatchewan to support affected communities.
