RCMP Officers Deliver Toys for Kids in the North

In 2024, RCMP officers from Teslin and Haines Junction helped deliver over $615,000 worth of toys to 4,500 children in the northernmost parts of Canada as part of the Toys for the North program. Each year, RCMP employees deliver a toy to each kid during the Christmas season, sharing the holiday cheer.

With the help and support of the Teslin Tlingit Council, the community was informed that some toys had accidentally fallen from Santa’s sleigh and were recovered near a trap line. The organizers invited children to come by the detachment and select a present for themselves.

Since 2010, the Canadian Toy Association has partnered with the RCMP and Thomson Terminals for the Toys for the North campaign. In 2024, the annual initiative provided toys to children in the remote northern communities of Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, including Thunder Bay in Ontario, Yellowknife, Whitehorse, Iqaluit, and Goose Bay, among others.

The Canadian Toy Association sources the toys each year. Thomson Terminals collects and sorts them before the Royal Canadian Air Force transports them, ensuring that children in Canada’s northernmost regions receive a special gift during the holiday season.
