The New Brunswick Fatherhood Council has launched a new program, “Creative Communities,” providing space for kids and dads to spend time together. Led by New Brunswick artist Louie Blaka, the initiative features monthly painting workshops where dads and kids can bond through art. The sessions are held on the third Thursday of each month.
The New Brunswick Fatherhood Council offers resources to help fathers, children, and families build strong relationships and a supportive community. The “Creative Communities” paint workshops invite dads and their children to create together while learning from the talented Louie Blaka. Beyond painting, the program provides a space for dads to come together, share experiences, and form connections.
The program is free and is open to all fathers in the city for the next 4 months at the Hub Teen Centre. At the last workshop, about a dozen dads gathered to paint, laugh, and enjoy pizza while creating lasting memories with their kids. For many participants, the workshops provide an opportunity to meet other dads and strengthen their sense of community.
Jones is optimistic about expanding with new programs, such as cooking demonstrations, fatherhood forums, and taking your child to school days. Those interested can learn more about the New Brunswick Fatherhood Council on Facebook and Instagram.
