Lake Huron Community Raises $470,000 for Local Healthcare

The community around Lake Huron once again came together to make the 2025 Gran Fondo a major success. Riders, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters raised over $470,000 to improve local healthcare.

More than 900 cyclists enjoyed scenic routes from Southampton on Saturday, followed by a lively Summer Street Dance that evening and a popular Kids’ Ride on Sunday. The weekend was filled with fun, community spirit, and fundraising in support of local healthcare.

On September 17, 2025, the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation presented $470,000 from Gran Fondo Lake Huron to Brightshores Health System. The funds will help install Automated Dispensing Units, which allow nurses to access medicines quickly and safely during emergencies. Patients will benefit from faster and safer care. Some of the funds will also support new lab equipment and a special isolation room project.

To date, the event has raised more than $2 million. This is a significant win for regional healthcare and for every patient, family, and frontline team member who will benefit from improved services.
