The 12th Annual Glencross Invitational, presented by the Calgary Flames Foundation and ATB, raised $174,000 in support of the Hockey Alberta Foundation and Ronald McDonald Charities Alberta.
The event began at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre, where four teams took to the ice for friendly competition. Each team had a celebrity coach, 15 skaters, a goaltender, and five celebrity players, creating an energetic mix of community members and local hockey fans.
After a full day of action, Team Stern claimed the Glencross Invitational Championship. Their effort stood out, yet the success of the day belonged to everyone who participated, sponsored, volunteered, or came out to support.
Proceeds from the event help expand access to hockey so more children, families, and communities can enjoy the sport. The Hockey Alberta Foundation focuses on providing every kid in every community with the chance to play, working with partners to support those in need, invest in future leaders, and honour those who came before.
Funds also support Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta, which offers care and comfort to families with children receiving medical treatment away from home by giving them a place to stay and rest together.
