Supporters at Thursday night’s North Bay Battalion game helped raise $3,817 for Special Olympics athletes, with all proceeds going toward the 2027 Special Olympics Provincial Winter Games being hosted in North Bay.
During the second intermission, members of the North Bay Police Service, other law enforcement officials, and local Special Olympics athletes collected donations from fans in the stands. Participating agencies included North Bay Police, MTO, OPP North East Region, Military Police 22 Wing, and Nipissing Paramedics.
The event was described as a community-focused night celebrating teamwork, inclusion, and local athletes. The support from fans, volunteers, and the Battalion contributes directly to creating memorable experiences for Special Olympics participants and the wider community.
On the ice, the North Bay Battalion defeated the Erie Otters 4-2, with four different players scoring, including Nolan Laird, who tallied the game-winning goal. North Bay returns to Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., following the Santa Claus Parade, to host Saginaw.
