The Festive Bricks of Giving exhibition has returned for another season, combining creativity, community, and fundraising to support students across the Capital Regional District. The month-long interactive event runs from November 15 to December 28 at the Parkside Hotel, transforming the atrium into a holiday Lego wonderland open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Now in its third year, the exhibition supports Rainbow Kitchen’s School Meal Program, which provides over 6,000 nutritious meals each month to students in six local schools, helping ensure no child goes hungry during the school day.
Visitors can explore elaborate Lego cityscapes built by the Victoria Lego Users Group, watch model trains travel through miniature villages, and see a custom bridge by MAC Island Construction spanning the hotel’s koi pond. Families can enjoy interactive Lego play stations, student Lego builds inspired by the school meal program, and take home a Lego ornament by donation, with every ornament supporting Rainbow Kitchen’s work.
On December 6, Robin Sathers, Canada’s first Certified Lego professional, will unveil the Big Build Lego creation, accompanied by a morning of family activities and a free photo with Santa.
Patrick Jawes, executive director of Rainbow Kitchen, said the event highlights the organization’s commitment to relieving food insecurity and supporting students’ ability to focus on learning. Donations help fund essential school meal programs, with $25 providing 10 meals.
Trina White, general manager of the Parkside Hotel & Spa, noted the partnership raises awareness of local food insecurity while capturing the season’s spirit of creativity, compassion, and community. Donations can be made on-site via tap-to-donate stations or online at RainbowKitchen.ca/donate, with tax receipts available.
