Family Services of Greater Vancouver Helps People in Crisis

Since 1928, Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV) has made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of Canadians in need. In 2024 alone, the nonprofit helped over 12,000 people find non-judgmental support.

During 2023-24, FSGV made a meaningful difference in the community as it supported over 12,000 people, spent more than 118,000 hours working directly with clients, and served 39,000 free meals and snacks to vulnerable youth. Throughout the year, the nonprofit helped 16 survivors of serious violence and trauma find safety and support on a weekly basis. Thanks to the efforts of the organization and its 400 staff and volunteers, low-income residents were able to access more than $2.1 million in new income to improve their lives.

FSGV offers over 35 programs and services across the Lower Mainland aimed at helping individuals, families, children, and seniors. FSGV programs cover a wide range of needs, from counselling, parenting support, and family mediation to financial education and help with government benefits.

The nonprofit also provides workplace wellness services, trauma counselling, and practical, emotional, and legal support for victims of violence and abuse. For young people, FSGV offers safe, low-barrier programs for those who are at risk, homeless, or facing other challenges. Through all its services, Family Services of Greater Vancouver aims to create a safer, healthier, and more supportive community for everyone.
